Fairtrade Peru Coffee Beans - Medium Roast
High in the Amazonian Andes of northern Peru, this coffee is produced by the dedicated farmers of the El Palto Cooperative (JUMARP). Founded in 2003 by just 35 small growers, the cooperative has grown into a thriving community of 189 members working together to cultivate exceptional specialty coffee while improving the livelihoods of their families.
Today, the cooperative manages approximately 550 hectares of organic and Fairtrade® certified coffee farms across the mountains of the Amazonas region. Farmers grow traditional varietals including Typica, Bourbon, Castillo, and Catimor, carefully cultivating their crops at elevations between 1,600 and 1,800 meters where the climate and terrain create ideal conditions for high-quality coffee. The beans are fully washed, allowing the clean and vibrant character of the coffee to shine through.
In the cup, this coffee offers a smooth body and medium acidity, with bright notes of lemon, subtle herbal complexity, and a balanced finish of chocolate.
The El Palto cooperative is also a leader in community representation and inclusion. Forty women farmers are active members of the cooperative, serving alongside their peers and represented on the board of directors. Together, their mission is to strengthen specialty coffee production while increasing the long-term prosperity of every farming family involved.

The Asociacion de Productores Cafetaleros Juan Marco El Palto (JUMARP) is also known as simply "El Palto." There are 40 women of the current 189 coop members, with approximately 550 hectares of organic and Fair Trade Certified coffee in production. Like their male counterparts, female members are represented on the El Palto Coop Board of Directors, whose mission it is to increase production and profitability in specialty coffee to increase each member family’s income.
